There are many different species of ticks and fleas that can feed
off your pets.
Once they are attached by imbedding their mouths into your pet’s
skin, they begin feeding off its blood. As they continue to feast
they become engorged with the blood they are draining and can increase
their size by several times.
Ticks can pose a health problem to both pets and people. Diseases
known to be carried by ticks include Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain
Spotted Fever, and Ehrlichiosis. Symptoms of tick – borne
diseases include fever, muscle and joint pain stiffness and rashes.
If untreated, these health problems can become severe, leading to
the need for long-term treatment.
Fleas are parasitic blood-sucking insects that make their home
on your pets. Eggs are laid on the pets but because the skin of
the pet is sometimes smooth they will often fall off onto carpets
or sofas in the home. Each fertilized female can lay as many as
25 fleas per day multiplying into hundreds and thousands within
a short period of time.
Ironically it is the cat flea that is responsible for most dogs
as well as cat infestations. If your pet contracts fleas, your cat
or dog will suffer from hair loss and skin lesions as well as painful
and persistent irritation.

To prevent possible health problems from the transmission of dangerous
pathogens inherent in ticks and fleas we need a repellent that prevents
these pests from landing on the pet.
